We are Utah’s oldest law firm limiting its practice to personal injury work.

Our appellate practice has generated groundbreaking cases in insurance bad faith—see Beck v. Farmers Insurance Exchange, 701 P.2d 795 (Utah 1985).  We won the case that allowed injured persons to pursue drunk drivers for punitive damages.  See Biswell v. Duncan, 742 P.2d 80 (Ut. App. 1987).

No attorney is always successful in pressing for the rights of a client.  Our office recently challenged the constitutionality of the Utah governmental damage cap.  We were not successful in convincing the Utah Supreme Court of our position.  However, we are terribly proud of our attorney who pressed this case not just through the judicial system, but through the constitutional remedy of a board of examiners.   This process took several years, but we were ultimately successful in obtaining fair compensation for our client.

DeBry & Associates has been an active force at the state legislative level.  Our attorneys have worked with legislators on different aspects of Utah auto insurance law and governmental immunity.  Our attorneys were members of a recent task force involved in redrafting the governmental immunity statute.  Our attorneys have played a significant role in supporting legislation that has made Utah auto law more equitable for injured persons.

DeBry & Associates works with lobbyists in monitoring proposed legislation that would harm the rights of Utahns to hold wrongdoers accountable.
